$14.95, one time, per pet. That covers your pet’s registration for life. There is no second payment, no renewal, and no annual bill. B2B partners such as vets, breeders, and stores have separate bulk pricing — see the partner questions below
No. PChipped is a one-time payment. Many registries charge a yearly fee or push a membership to keep your record active — we don’t. You pay $14.95 once and your pet stays registered for life, including free updates to your contact information whenever you move or change your number.
All of them. PChipped registers every brand of microchip — HomeAgain, AKC Reunite, 24Petwatch, AVID, and any other ISO or non-ISO chip. The chip brand doesn’t matter. As long as you have the chip number, you can register it here.
Yes. When a vet or shelter scans a found pet, they look the number up through the AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool — the industry-standard search every professional uses. PChipped is a participating registry in that tool, so a scan points them straight to your record. That lookup is what turns a chip number into a phone call to you.
Two things work in your favor. First, anyone who finds your pet and gets the chip scanned can look up the number and reach you directly — that’s the whole point of registering. Second, once our Lost Pet Recovery tools are live, you’ll be able to flag your pet as lost from your dashboard, which sends an alert to people signed up in your area and generates a printable flyer with your pet’s photo and details. Keeping your contact info current is the single most important thing you can do to get your pet home.
Three steps. Enter your pet’s microchip number and details, add your contact and emergency information, and pay the one-time $14.95. You’ll get a login right away so you can manage everything from your dashboard. The whole thing takes a few minutes.
A microchip is a tiny passive tag, about the size of a grain of rice, placed under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades by a vet. It is NOT a GPS and cannot track your pet’s location. It has no battery and does nothing on its own. It only does one thing: when a scanner passes over it, it reads out a unique ID number. That number, matched to your registration, is how someone reaches you.
It’s on the paperwork from whoever implanted the chip — your vet, shelter, or breeder — usually on a sticker or in the adoption records. If you can’t find it, any vet or shelter can scan your pet in seconds and read it out for you. If your pet was adopted or bought from a store, ask them for the chip number.
Your contact details are stored securely and are never shown on the public lookup page. When someone looks up a chip number, they only see the pet’s basic information and its status — never your name, phone, or address. If they need to reach you, the contact happens through our recovery process, not by exposing your details to a stranger.
No. A microchip registration is a contact record that helps reunite a lost pet with the person listed on it. It is not a legal title or proof of ownership, and PChipped does not decide or arbitrate ownership disputes. If there’s a dispute over who owns a pet, that’s a legal matter settled through the proper channels, not through the registry
Only non-identifying pet information — things like the pet’s name, species, breed, color, and whether it’s marked Home, Lost, or Found. Your personal contact information is never displayed. This protects your privacy while still letting a finder confirm they’ve matched the right pet.
Yes. One login can hold as many pets as you have. Each pet is a separate $14.95 registration, but they all live under a single dashboard so you can manage the whole household in one place.
You can still register it with PChipped. A chip can appear in more than one registry, and having your current, correct information here means a finder who reaches PChipped can get to you. If you want to be removed from an old registry, you’ll need to contact that company directly — each registry manages its own records.
Absolutely — this is one of the most common situations. Plenty of pets get chipped at a shelter or clinic and the registration step never gets finished, which means the chip leads nowhere if the pet is lost. If you have the chip number, you can register it with PChipped in a few minutes and finally make that chip useful.
Use the lookup page on pchip.com and enter the microchip number. If the chip is registered with us, you’ll see the pet’s basic details and status. If you’re a finder trying to reach the owner, follow the on-page instructions — the owner’s contact details stay private, but we help make the connection.
First, if you can, get the pet scanned at a nearby vet, shelter, or animal control to read the chip number — most will do this free. Then enter that number on our lookup page. If the pet is registered with PChipped, we’ll help connect you with the owner. Once our Found Pet reporting tool is live, you’ll also be able to file a found report with a photo so we can match it against pets reported lost. In the meantime, you can reach us at [PHONE].
From your dashboard, mark the pet as Lost. Once our Lost Pet Recovery system is live, that flag will trigger alerts to people signed up in your area and generate a printable flyer with your pet’s photo, description, and contact info. Until then, marking your pet Lost updates its status in the registry so anyone who looks up the chip knows the pet is missing.
When you report a pet lost, the system sends an alert — by email and text — to community members who’ve signed up to receive notifications within about a 50-mile radius of where the pet went missing, based on zip code. More local eyes means a better chance of a fast reunion. This is part of our Lost Pet Recovery release and rolls out after the core registry launches.
It’s a free signup for anyone who wants to help — no pet registration required. You add your zip code and you’ll get notified when a pet goes missing near you. The more people in the network, the faster lost pets get spotted and returned. It costs nothing to join.
Nothing can guarantee it, but a registered chip with current contact information is the single best tool for getting a lost pet home. The chip never falls off or fades like a collar tag can. The one thing that stops it from working is out-of-date contact info — which is why we make updates free and easy.
Log in to your dashboard and edit your details — phone, email, address, emergency contacts. Updates are free and there’s no limit on how often you can make them. Any time you move or change your number, update it here. It’s the most important habit for keeping your pet protected.
Yes. From your dashboard, start a transfer and enter the new owner’s email. They’ll receive a secure claim link to accept the pet into their own account. Once they claim it, the pet moves off your account and onto theirs. This is the clean way to hand off a pet when you sell, rehome, or place a rescue.
If the previous owner or rescue registered the pet with PChipped, ask them to start a transfer to your email — you’ll get a link to claim it. If the chip isn’t in PChipped yet, or you can’t reach the previous owner, you can register the chip in your name directly. If it’s registered with another company, you’ll need to contact that registry to update ownership on their side.
Nothing is lost. There’s no recurring payment, so there’s nothing to stop — your $14.95 covers the pet for life. If you forget your login, you can reset it from the login page. Your record stays in the registry either way.
Yes. After you register, you can view and print a registration certificate from your dashboard showing your pet’s details and chip number. It’s handy for your records, for boarding or travel, or just for peace of mind
Apply through our partner portal on the For Vets & Stores page. Once you’re approved, you get a partner dashboard where you can register chips in bulk and see your full registration history. It’s built for shops, clinics, breeders, and rescues that chip pets regularly and want to handle registration on the spot.
Partner pricing is per chip and drops as volume goes up: $7.00 per chip for 1–49 chips a month, $5.50 per chip for 50–199, and $4.00 per chip for 200 or more. Partners are invoiced directly rather than paying online per registration. Apply through the partner portal to get set up.
Because it keeps the relationship — and the margin — with you. Instead of paying per-chip fees to a national brand and sending your customer off to their portal, you register on a platform priced for volume and stay the point of contact for your own customers. For a local shop or clinic, that’s ownership of the customer relationship you’d otherwise hand away.
For registration questions or help with a found pet, reach us at [PHONE] or through the contact form on pchip.com. For lost and found pets, the fastest path is the lookup page — enter the chip number and follow the steps there. Mailing address for registrations sent by post: [MAILING ADDRESS].
